Last week, I went to visit edbe, a pret-a-porter store by Eddy Betty. Eddy Betty is a seasoned Indonesian couturier who is known for his innovative kebaya-bustier, giving a new look to the traditional style kebaya. However, when I entered the store, it was not the Eddy Betty that I know. Inside is a row of edgy, unexpected and free styled batik clothing, reflecting another side of Eddy Betty that I am not familiar with. I am impressed with the colors, the cut and indeed a fresh look for Batik. I love how Eddy has always taken the traditional and push it so to another level to give it freshness and a modern twist, this time using Indonesia’s beautiful batik cloths. The store is at Gunawarman 30, clean, modern and edgy interior which is reflecting the design of the edbe collection. I particularly love the seas of light bulbs (the light bulbs tree). I decided to pick up two pieces from the store, a two-way blue beige batik patchwork vest and a cool navy and sand colored skinny batik jeans. The vest is done in patch work with different batik cloth design, a black and white one, a sky blue ones with turtle and butterfly on it. The skinny jeans is made of stretchy materials with printed swirly navy, tear drops petals batik patterns on them. Will wear them soon…. LOVE! Bravo to Eddy Betty….
